Game Programmer

The Game Programmer has the technical responsibility for implementing the gameplay and for ensuring that the aesthetic experience matches the criteria created by the Game Director, Art Director and Game Designer.

During preproduction and in collaboration with the Game Designer (and other relevant competences), the Game Programmer designs and produces prototypes as proof of concept.

The Game Programmer is responsible for programming/implementing the various components and that these are in correlation with the design document and the overall concept.
In collaboration with the Project Manager, Game Designer, Art Director and Game Director, the Lead Game Programmer develops the game’s concept.

The Lead Game Programmer is responsible for that the technical aspects of the game concept can be realized with the lowest possible risks.

The Lead Game Programmer is responsible for breaking down the design document into smaller programmable parts and that deadlines related to these are kept.

During the production, the Lead Game Programmer is responsible for ensuring that the programming/implementation is in accordance with the game design and the desired visual style.

The Lead Game Programmer is responsible for the technical aspects of the design document making it possible to evaluate the technological solutions and resources available.

The Lead Game Programmer is responsible for – in collaboration with the Game Director and Project Manager – planning and estimating the work load in relation to the time and resources available.

The Lead Game Programmer is responsible for – in collaboration with the Game Director, Game Designer, Art Director and Project Manager – that the game is tested on the target audience.


Lead Game Programmers/Game Programmers come from DTU, Computer Science at University of Copenhagen, Medialogy and Computer Science at Aalborg University and The IT University of Copenhagen.
